Mia Sagarnaga, an architecture major at The University of Texas, will receive $2,500 in financial support.
Houston, TX – Haque Law’s new Wings of Expression scholarship promised $2,500 in financial aid to a creative student who could help the firm craft the concept art for its new mural. Applicants could submit wing-based art based on the firm’s established color scheme and preferred style in hopes of having their art displayed in the office.
Of all of the scholarship applicants, Mahmood Haque, Founder & Managing Attorney, was most inspired by the work of Mia Sagarnaga. Sagarnaga is currently majoring in architecture at The University of Texas, where she is pursuing a five-year degree. She’s in her second year of studies and, thanks to her incredible creative work, the recipient of the Wings of Expression scholarship’s $2,500 in winnings.
When asked what inspired her to submit to the Wings of Expression scholarship, Sagarnaga says, “I have always been an imaginative and creative person. So the artistic nature of the scholarship really drew me in. In my design I wanted to center the strength of hawk wings, which I reflected through the color choices and “rugged” depiction of the wings. Their weathered appearance is meant to imply wisdom, as the wings have been seasoned by years of soaring through hard winds.”
Sagarnaga’s creativity and incredible artistic ability are on full display in her concept art. She notes that she hopes to take on similar creative projects in the future, especially as she enters the professional sphere.
Sagarnaga intends to earn her architect’s license after she graduates and hopes to pursue a Master’s degree in the field to further her understanding of modern architectural trends and practices. She plans, one day, to open and manage her own architectural firm, ensuring that she can continue to build up her community.
